Big Race Weekend

I can't believe it's the end of June and summer racing is in full swing.  This weekend is a big one on the calendar the Champion Factory team.

First and foremost is the "San Diego showdown"!  Sunday is the San Diego International triathlon which arguably our biggest local race.  The amateur and pro races are always super competitive with local bragging rights on the line!  We have some athletes primed and ready to go this Sunday.  Heather Jackson will leading the charge in the elite race and James Adams & Susanne Davis will both be in the mix for the top step of the AG podium.

We also have a brand new athlete, David O'Hair out racing the Buffalo Springs 70.3 on Sunday.  David just joined the team this week and has his sights on Collegiate Nationals at the Austin 70.3 in October.   We are really excited to start working with the speedy 18 year old.

Up in Idaho Dan Egoroff is charging IMDCA.  Dan has been working with us for most of the year and his fitness gains have been monumental.  He's primed and ready to throwdown his best IM in his triathlon career.

Last, but not least on the racing front, Beth Walsh is across the pond living the dream in Nice and will be towing the line at IM France on Sunday (starts at 10pm PST).  She's been having a good go of late in the 70.3 series and looking to carry that into the IM distance.
Annabel charging at The Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon
That's all for the racing this weekend, but we wanted to give you a quick update on of our professionals, Annabel Luxford.  She's been smashing it so far this year and she's only getting started.  Here are some of her recent results:
Nautica South Beach Triathlon: 2nd
St. Anthony's Triathlon: 4th
The Columbia Triathon (5150): 1st
Capital of Texas Triathlon: 2nd
Escape From Alcatraz: 2nd

A Very Good Start

This past weekend was filled with racing for Champion Factory athletes Heather Jackson, Beth Walsh, James Walsh, and Brad Eastman.

Heather & Beth were in Palm Springs and on Sunday morning raced the Desert Triathlon.  Heather took the first spot on the podium and on her way to victory also beat all the men in the race.  Sorry guys, but that's called getting chicked.  Beth rounded out the podium taking 3rd with an impressive performance as her first race as a professional.

James was out in Arizona for the Tucson Bicycle Classic.  It's a 3 day stage race with a TT on Friday, Road Race on Saturday, and Circuit Race on Sunday.

James took 1st in the TT, 1st in the Road Race, and 5th in Circuit Race which was enough to secure the the Overall win in the GC for the Category 5 race.  Tucson was his last race in the 5's and he'll be racing as a 4 at Tour de Murrietta this coming weekend.

Brad headed up to Domguez Hills for the Ride Like You Stole It Criterium.  Brad put together 2 solid races and took 8th in bunch Sprint in the 30+ 4/5 race.

Getting Started

Champion Factory is a work in progress.  Pete Coulson is the coaching brains behing a small a team of athletes right now, but that's gonna change.  In the coming months Champion Factory Coaching will begin taking on additional clients.

This blog/website is also a work in progress with much more in the works, but for the time being wanted to get something up & online to share what's going in with the progress of Champion Factory and what the athletes are up to.

So this if the first real post and it's a race weekend.  This weekend Heather Jackson and Beth Walsh are heading to Palm Springs for the Desert Triathlon.  For both of them it will be the first triathlon of the season.  Heather won the race last year and will be defending her title.  This will be the Beth's first race since she jumped onboard with Pete & Champion Factory, recovered from an injury, and got her pro card.

For both ladies it's a good chance to test their fitness before Ironman California 70.3, which after this weekend is 4 short weeks away.

Champion Factory's resident "Transporter", James Walsh, on is also on the road again to race his bike.  He's healing up from last weekend's crash and ready for the Tucson Bicycle Classic.  Friday starts with a short TT, Saturday a hilly road race, and sunday a circuit race.  This should be his last race as a Cat 5 and the it's time to make the racing count!

To everybody else racing out there good luck.  If you have any questions regarding Champion Factory or coaching feel free to send and email (championfactorycoaching@gmail.com), or check us out on facebook (http://www.facebook.com/championfactorycoaching).
